Assignment 3: Selective Focus

I used some shots that I took over my vacation to Missaukee Lake in Lake City, Michigan as examples of Selective Focus. Hopefully, they are good enough examples of it.....

Assignment 2: Color

This was actually Assignment One, but I was lazy and didn't post it till I already completed Assignment 2. So, anyway....

The assignment was supposed to be "Color". I also didn't have enough time to really venture out due to the fact I had SOOOOO much to do that week. But... since it is summer and all.... Ethan and I decided to have a favorite summer treat. I figured it worked well with the theme of the week.

Assignment 1: Texture

This week's assignment was texture. Rick had the car seat for most of my weekend, so I wasn't able to travel to get some decent shots. So, I had to stick with what I have here at home . . . which isn't much. I'm not really happy with what I came up with, but there is always next weeks assignment.

This has nothing to do with the assignment, but I found someone on my hunt.

New Site

Hello All!
This blog will not be like my www.rickandrachaelsmith.blogspot.com site because I will not be posting about our family updates. This site is strictly for me to post my progress with my new found busy work.

I have always had an interest in photography and have taken several classes in High School (both privately tutored and Public School), but haven't really done anything with it. All the work that I have done for the classes I took went into storage or got lost in the move. So, all I have to show for it is the million pictures I take of my son. Because I can't afford to go back to school to get another degree, I am going to TRY to learn on my own how to take better pictures and learn how to use the functions on my camera a little bit better. I have always used a manual 35mm camera, and know how to use it well, but I am lost when it comes to digital SLR.

I bought a Cannon Digital Rebel XTi right before Rick went into the service. With all this time I'm going to have to myself now that I have 3 days off and Rick being away at A-School, I decided I'd use my time wisely and learn how to use this expensive piece of equipment.

This blog is solely for me to post my "homework" shots. They may suck at first, but I expect them to. haha. But your comments would be great. Tell me what you think, what I should work on, what you'd like me to shoot pictures of...... anything.... let me know. Criticism isn't a bad thing, but only will help me in my learning process.

So, I hope you enjoy this blog, and hopefully I will get some good shots in here.
